After finishing his college career with an exclamation point, a one-handed slam dunk to bury Franciscan University on his senior day, Daniel Waajid’s career will now end on a bright note.

To end my college career like that was truly amazing. I have never had so much fun with the family I have raised in a sort of way,” Waajid said.”Ending it the way we did made me feel great about our season, we all played hard and started to get much better together, if we would have took care of a few things early in the season, things would of been different but it is what it is.”

The 6 foot 7 inch Waajid was named AMCC Player of the Year, averaging 15.1 points and 11.9 rebounds a game, despite the team not making playoffs.

When I found out that I was player of the year, I couldn’t believe it,” Waajid said. “I thought that the person who would get such an award would have to win the championship, but I see now that’s not the case. I’m very proud of myself for the accomplishment. But, truthfully, I had no idea I would win it.”

Waajid was a dominant force on the inside all season long for the Bobcats. He recorded 12 double-doubles in 20 games this season, and he ranked fourth in the AMCC in points per game and first in rebounding and field goal percentage. He also recorded 18 or more rebounds in a game four times this season, and he ranks seventh in NCAA Division III in rebounds per game.

Waajid hopes to make a career in a field that he is passionate about, weather that field is basketball or something else.

Well I have a lot of options on what I want to make a career in, working with adolescents is one of my top options, also writing a book. I think I will end up doing something I will like and comfortable am with,” Waajid said.
