That’s how high the Mavericks have climbed in this week’s NCAA Division III national poll. They travel to Greensburg for an important conference matchup on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Menhorn hits career mark, but is sidelined by knee injury
Tiffany MenhornBy Maggie Samole / Sports editor
With just under six minutes remaining in the first half against the Lake Erie Storm last Saturday, senior guard Tiffany Menhorn secured her spot in Bobcat basketball history. Her layup broke the career scoring record of 1,420 points held by former standout Annie Sral. The moment was an all-time high in Menhorn’s memory bank.
The moment also was short-lived.
At the 15:35 mark of the second half, a Storm player drove to the basket and collided with Menhorn’s left knee. She left the game for a few minutes to collect her wits, but the damage was already done.

Waajid, Tessari lead men's basketball to first win
Forward Daniel Waajid: The junior scored 15 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the Bobcats 83-76 win over Frostburg State.By Dave Holt / Sports editor
The Bobcats needed a spark last night against Frostburg State, and they got it from two unlikely sources in UPG’s 83-76 win — the first of the season.
Freshman forward Dino Tessari came off the bench and hit two three-point shots late in the first half to pull the Bobcats within four points, 41-37 at halftime. And freshman forward P.J. Dillion, who played only two minutes the entire game, took a charge igniting UPG’s win.
“Dino hit a couple of threes, and that gave us confidence. Then P.J took a charge, and that got the team jacked up,” said head coach Marcus Kahn. “[…] Dino was huge for us. Without those three-point shots, we don’t win the game.”
